Child and Family Benefit

A tax-free payment for lower- and middle-income Alberta families with children under 18. A base amount plus an extra working-income component.

Who qualifies

  • You qualify if you are an Alberta resident with a child under 18 and file your taxes; the amount depends on income and number of children.
  • A working-income component adds more for families with employment income over about $2,760.

    There is no separate application. File your tax return and the CRA assesses you automatically, paying it with the Canada Child Benefit.
