Canadian Dental Care Plan
Helps pay for dental care for residents with no private dental insurance and family income under $90,000. As of 2025 it is open to all ages.

Who qualifies
- You must not have access to any dental insurance (through work, a spouse, a pension, or a private plan you bought).
- Your adjusted family net income must be under $90,000, and you must have filed last year's taxes.
- You must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes. All ages are now eligible.

Apply online or by phone
Apply through the Government of Canada. You will need your Social Insurance Number and details about your dental insurance.

Wait for your welcome package
Sun Life mails a welcome package with your coverage start date and member card. Coverage starts on that date, not before.

Good to know
- If your family income is under $70,000, the plan covers the full eligible amount; between $70,000 and $90,000, you pay a co-payment.
- Having a workplace plan makes you ineligible even if you choose not to use it.
